Winter 2020 Recreational Classes

 

Superhero & Sidekick Age 1 - 2 (formerly Kanga & Roo) - 30 minute class 

This 30-minute class is an introduction for both toddler and parents to physical literacy through gymnastics.  This class is designed to encourage parent-child interaction and provides a fun and safe environment for your ‘sidekick’ to explore various gymnastics apparatus.  You, their ‘Superhero’, will aid your child, providing them with assistance on equipment and helping to keep them safe with the guidance and supervision of a certified coach.  This class is designed to assist your child’s social and cognitive development as well as developing coordination, balance, confidence and gross motor skills such as running, jumping, climbing and swinging.  Campia’s Superhero & Sidekick classes provide your child with a quality movement experience introducing them to an active early childhood which we hope will lead to an active and healthy life.

 

Superhero & Sidekick Age 2 - 3 (formerly Tumbling Tiggers) - 30 minute class

Mini Heroes Age 3 - 4 (formerly Mini Monkeys) - 45 minute class 

This 45-minute class is for independent 3 and 4 year old’s who are ready to move into a gym class without a parent or caregiver.  This class provides just the right amount of structure to teach children to listen and follow directions while maintaining a safe environment promoting the Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals of gymnastics.  Your Mini Hero will experience a consistent class routine where they will begin to learn gymnastics terminology and skill progressions.  Through age-appropriate activities, circuits and play your Mini Hero will build on their motor skills, balance and coordination.  Mini Heroes are introduced to all six fundamental movement patterns of gymnastics and progress at their own pace, while being constantly challenged by our qualified coaching staff. Mini Heroes receive a certificate of achievement at the end of each session.  As children in this class participate without their parent, they will also experience the joy of independence and gain confidence providing the perfect stepping-stone into our Mighty Hero program.

*Participants must be toilet trained and able to stay with their group.

 

Mighty Heroes Age 5 - 6 (formerly Mighty Monkeys) – 60 minute class

This 60-minute class is for children ages 5 and 6.  Mighty Heroes will continue to develop physical literacy skills that are at the core of all sports while focusing on the fundamental movement patterns of gymnastics; swings, springs, landings, locomotion, stationary positions and rotations.  In this class, your Mighty Hero will experience a consistent class routine where they will continue to learn and develop skill progressions as well as be introduced to concepts of flexibility, strength and conditioning.  Mighty Heroes will progress at their own pace while being constantly challenged by our qualified coaching staff.  Each session your Mighty Hero will be tasked with a progressively more difficult “Skills Mission” sheet and they will receive a Hero Achievement ribbon upon completion.

Please Note: Members registering for Mighty Monkeys, please note effective December 7th, 2019 we will no longer be using the CanGym Badge evaluation program.  Campia is implementing a new and improved process for monitoring athlete progress.  Please note that your Mighty Monkey will not lose their completed badge level, but rather carry it over while we transition to the new program.

 

Mighty Heroes Boys Age 5 - 6 (formerly Mighty Monkeys Boys) – 60 minute class

Hero Academy I Age 7 - 12 (formerly CanGym Beginner I) – 75 minute class

Campia's CanGym program is based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. This is a progressive badge program for new and returning participants ages 7 – 12 who are working on their Burgundy, Red & Tan badge levels.

Progress reports are distributed at the end of our sessions and aid in monitoring the progress of each individual.

 

Hero Academy II Age 7 - 12 (formerly CanGym Beginner II) – 75 minute class

Hero Academy II focuses on the following badges: Bronze and Purple.
Campia's CanGym program is based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. This is a progressive badge program for boys and girls used by most gymnastics clubs in Canada. Progress reports are distributed at the end of our sessions and aid in monitoring the progress of each individual.

 

Hero Academy III Age 7 - 12 (formerly CanGym Intermediate) – 75 minute class

Hero Academy III focuses on the next level of badges: Blue, Turquoise and Silver.
Campia's CanGym program is based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. This is a progressive badge program for boys and girls used by most gymnastics’ clubs in Canada. The CanGym program includes 3 levels of skill progressions. Within each of these levels there are different badges which help to break gymnastics skills down into achievable steps. Individuals can advance through the badges at the pace most appropriate for them. Progress reports are distributed at the end of our sessions and aid in monitoring the progress of each individual.

 

Hero Academy - Boys All Levels Age 7-12 (formerly CanGym Boys) – 75 minute class

Campia's CanGym program is based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. Will develop skills on the apparatus specific to men’s artistic gymnastics. This is a progressive badge program for participants ages 7 – 12 who are working on all badge levels.

 

Hero Academy IV Age 7 - 14 (formerly CanGym Advanced) – 75 minute class

Hero Academy IV is designed for those who working on Orange, Yellow, Green and Gold Badge levels.
Campia has made adaptations to CanGym’s Gold level badge program to focus on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. Within this program are five levels that help break gymnastics skills into achievable steps. Individuals can advance through levels at the pace most appropriate for them. Progress reports are distributed at the end of our sessions and aid in monitoring the progress of each individual.

 

Teen Titans Age 13-16 (formerly CanGym Teen) – 75 minute class

Campia's CanGym program is based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars for all recreational programs: Fun, Fitness and Fundamentals. This is a co-ed class for teens age 13 – 16 years old; all skill levels (new and returning participants) where they will advance through the various badge levels at the pace most appropriate for them. Progress reports are distributed at the end of our sessions and aid in monitoring the progress of each individual.

 

Jump Academy Age 7 - 10 (formerly CanJump) – 60 minute class

Jump Academy is a beginner program for recreational trampoline. Participants will focus solely on developing trampoline skills and not other gymnastics apparatus. CanJump is a progressive program for boys and girls. Participants will learn trampoline skills under the direction of a Trampoline certified Gymnastics coach.

 

Jump Academy Age 11 - 16 (formerly CanJump) – 60 minute class

Jump Academy is a beginner program for recreational trampoline. Participants will focus solely on developing trampoline skills and not other gymnastics apparatus. CanJump is a progressive program for boys and girls. Participants will learn trampoline skills under the direction of a Trampoline certified Gymnastics coach.

 

Acro for Dance - Beginner Class Age 8 - 14 - 60 minute class

No experience required. This is the ideal class for aspiring dancers of all skill levels. Participants will work on tumbling skills such as handstands, cartwheels, front and back walkovers, round-offs. 

 

Acro for Dance - Advanced Class Age 8 - 14 - 60 minute class

Participants will work on skills like aerials and back handsprings, front handsprings, back tucks and more. Prerequisite is back handspring.

 


 

RECREATIONAL POLICIES: 


Refund Policy: Once registered; a refund request form must be completed and submitted in person or by email to Campia Gymnastics. Refund deadline is 1 week after the first day of the session. Verbal notification and/or non-attendance will not constitute discontinuation. A refund for remaining class fees less the non-refundable Annual Memberships (GNL and Campia) and $25 admin fee will be paid. If discontinuation occurs due to injury or medical condition a refund request form must be submitted along with a physician’s note and a refund will be issued for remaining class fees less the non-refundable Annual Memberships (GNL and Campia). A refund request form is available at the Front Desk during regular office hours or can be emailed to you upon request.

NOTE: Campia Gymnastics reserves the right to cancel class offering that are not full and place participants in another appropriate class time. 

 

CANCELLATION POLICY/STORM CLOSURES: 
Campia closures follow closely the decisions of NLESD for school closures but will be based on weather conditions throughout the day as well. For updates please visit Campia's Facebook or Twitter. Emails will be sent to all participants once closure decisions are made. Classes cancelled due to weather or circumstances beyond our control will not be rescheduled. 

 

Equipment Maintenance Fee: To help offset the cost of equipment maintenance and new purchases to provide safe, quality programming for all our members, a $10 fee for all Campia members is included in class fees. 

 

Disciplinary: Campia coaches work to keep the environment in the gym safe, friendly and respectful. Disruptive behaviour from any participant will not be tolerated. Harassment, inappropriate language, bullying of any kind is unacceptable. Our instructors set clear boundaries and expectations as to appropriate conduct and should action need to be taken due to a child’s continuous interruptions of the positive atmosphere or ongoing disregard for the rules, parents will be notified. Disruptive behaviour will be documented and if continued may result in dismissal and/or refusal to accept participant into future classes. We ask your cooperation in providing a positive experience for all members. 

 

Waitlist: If the class you want is full, you can waitlist.  You are not required to pay for any waitlisted classes unless a space becomes available.  You can waitlist for any number of time slots that you wish.  Alternatively, you can register and pay for an available class and waitlist for your preferred class.  If a space becomes available, you will be contacted and transferred to your preferred class.  You will be contacted by phone if a class becomes available.  Once contacted, you will have the remainder of that business day to accept and pay for your class.  The following business day your waitlisted space will expire and we offer the space to the next waitlisted individual.  If we are able to secure more coaches and have space available in the gym, every effort will be made to add more classes and additional time slots. Waitlists are not carried over from session to session. 

 

Drop Off/Pick Up: Classes commence and end promptly at the scheduled times. Please do not drop your child off early without supervision. Campia/coaches are not responsible for children until they are called to the gym floor. All participants under the age of 7 must have a parent/caregiver present on premises for the duration of their class. 

 

Viewing: 

Viewing is permitted from the viewing areas only. There are viewing areas in the Main Lobby and Upstairs. With the exception of Parent and tot classes (Kanga & Roo, Tumbling Tiggers and Leaping Lemurs); parents, visitors and spectators are not permitted in the gym.

 

Photography and Video Recording:

For the safety and privacy of all children and coaches, videography and photography are strictly prohibited.

 

Washroom Use Policy:

Children under 5 years of age will be brought out to the parent or caregiver to use the public washroom upstairs.

 

Allergies: 
Our facility is nut free and scent free. Our allergy list changes based upon the registered members for each session. Please ensure you have advised our front desk staff of any other allergies your child(ren) may have. We have identified the following allergies to be present: peanuts, tree nuts, kiwi, latex, fish, chic peas (Hummus), lentils. Please refrain from bringing food into the facility that may contain the above items.
